Healthcare Provider Course

None; students should be encouraged to review the book prior to class.

AHA Textbook of Basic Life Support Heartsaver  for the Healthcare Providers.
  • Target Audience
Designed for the professional healthcare provider (ie. emergency medical technicians, paramedics, nurses and physicians), but may be modified for day-care workers, lifeguards, and other non healthcare professionals whose job responsibilities require that they respond in an emergency.
  • Content
Course will cover adult one rescuer CPR and FBAO, pediatric one rescuer CPR and FBAO, Adult two rescuer CPR, Barrier Devices and AED and other material covered in HS and PBLS classes.  A strong emphasis is being placed on Automatic External Defibrillator (AED's), and the benefits of greater placement and use of these devices.
  • Equipment
Manikins are required for hands-on practice, demonstration and return demonstration.
  • Successful Completion

A written test is required for the HCP course. It must be passes with an 84%. Additional attempts to pass may be given, but retests may not occur sooner that 24 hours.

  • Cards
Course completion cards are issued when students have completed all components of checkoff and written testing to the satisfaction of the instructor. Cards are valid for 2 years from date of issue.
