Pediatric Heartsaver Course

  • Prerequisite
None; students should be encouraged to review the book prior to class.
  • Textbook
AHA Textbook of Pediatric Basic Life Support
  • Target Audience
Designed for lay public.
  • Content
Course will cover how to resuscitate an infant and/or child. Inclues injury prevention information. It is recommended that both infant and child CPR and FBAO techniques be taught because students may not readily return to a CPR course, and the infant quickly becomes a child. Infants are considered to be anyone less than 1 year old; children are age 1-8. A strong emphasis is being placed on Automatic External Defibrillator (AED's), and the benefits of greater placement and use of these devices.
  • Equipment
Manikins are required for hands-on practice, demonstration and return demonstration.
  • Successful Completion

No written testing is required.

  • Cards
Participation cards are issued to each student attending. Cards are valid for 2 years from the date of the issue.
